Hi! My name is Stephanie, and I am a mom to an energetic toddler and was born and raised in Texas. My role at RESTOR3 YOUR HEALTH is nutritional therapy practitioner.
a little bit about me…
Growing up, living an active lifestyle was innate and a normal part of everyday life. As a kid, I was always outside doing some kind of sports activity, playing with cousins, cutting grass, or just being your typical kid. Let’s just say my parents kicked us out of the house and forced us to go play outside.
As I got older and entered high school, I was very much engulfed in the chaos of playing sports, specifically softball. I played softball year-round, with no breaks. With all of the endless practices, games, sweat and hard work, I eventually received a scholarship to go play softball at the University of Texas at Arlington.
What I thought would be the start of something good, actually became the start of something opposite. Much to my demise, college is where my health began to decline.
This was my first time living on my own, where I was responsible for what I ate, drank, and did on a daily basis. Unfortunately, I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle, which included eating fast food every day and not sleeping at night. These choices inevitably lead to a various list of uncomfortable physical problems that I was experiencing.
I was under enormous amounts of stress not only from the academic side of school but also from the softball side as well. When playing sports in college, it becomes a job, and if you do not perform, then you do not play. The compounding stress of juggling academics and softball pressures, along with other unhealthy choices I was making, led to having constipation, severe acne, constant bloating, and poor self-esteem.
I knew a change had to be made.
After two years…
I made the hard decision to stop playing softball, move back home, and solely focus on school. It was at this point that I looked in the mirror and was not happy with how unhealthy I had become. I didn’t recognize myself, as I had always been fit and thought of myself as being a relatively healthy person. I began to slowly clean up my diet, completely cutting out fast food, sugar, and processed foods. My focus was simply just to eat better and work out consistently, which subsequently lead to me losing the weight I had gained.
Over time, my interest in the food I was consuming began to increase. I wanted to know more about what exactly was in the food I was eating, so I started reading, researching, and listening to videos to get a better understanding of the wonderful nutrients that make up our food. This allowed me to really focus in on eating foods that were good for my body, would help decrease inflammation and bloating, and help repair my gut and skin after years of damage. After reclaiming my health, I can without a doubt say that I am glad I went through those unhealthy stages in my life because it led me to where I am today.
As a result, I am now a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner who has a passion for helping others who are where I used to be. My hope is that my story and my knowledge will help as many people as possible reclaim their health and live life to the fullest!
